Fees, rebates & how to book

We aim to make accessing psychological support as straightforward as possible. Below you'll find our current fees, available funding pathways, and how to get started.

Session Fees

Current Appointment Fees

Fees are reviewed periodically. Our team will confirm the current fee when you make an enquiry.

Individual Therapy

Standard Session

$260 per 50-min session

Standard individual psychological therapy session for adults, adolescents, and children. Conducted in person at our Berwick rooms or via Telehealth.

Medicare rebate available With a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan, a Medicare rebate of approx. $141.85 applies — reducing your out-of-pocket cost.
Assessment

Psychological Assessment

POA varies by type

Comprehensive psychological assessment fees vary depending on the type and purpose of assessment, session time required, and report writing. Please contact us for a quote.

Medicare rebates may apply Some assessment sessions attract a Medicare rebate. WorkSafe, TAC, and VOCAT funding is also accepted for eligible clients.
Third-Party Funded

WorkSafe & TAC

$0 out-of-pocket*

For clients with an accepted WorkSafe or Transport Accident Commission (TAC) claim, sessions are billed directly to the insurer. No out-of-pocket cost in most cases.

Direct billing available We bill WorkSafe and TAC directly. You'll need a valid claim number and referral from your treating practitioner.
Victims of Crime

VOCAT & Victims Assistance

$0 out-of-pocket*

Berwick Counselling & Psychology is registered to provide services funded under the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT). Fees are covered for eligible clients.

Please note: Fees listed are a guide and are reviewed annually. Medicare rebate amounts are set by the Australian Government and subject to change. Our team will confirm current fees and funding options when you get in touch. A valid Medicare card and referral are required to claim the Medicare rebate.

Ways to Access Support

We accept a wide range of funding pathways to help make psychology accessible for everyone.

Medicare (Mental Health Plan)

Receive up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year with a Medicare rebate, when referred under a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP or psychiatrist.

Private Health Insurance

Many private health insurance policies include a psychology benefit under extras cover. Rebate amounts vary by fund and policy level — check with your insurer.

WorkSafe Victoria

For clients with an accepted WorkSafe claim relating to a work-related psychological injury. We bill WorkSafe directly — you typically have no out-of-pocket cost.

VOCAT provides financial assistance to victims of violent crime, including funded psychological counselling. We are a registered VOCAT provider.

You can access our services privately without a referral. This gives you full flexibility over session frequency and content, without needing to involve your GP.

Getting Started

How to make an appointment

You don't need a referral to make an enquiry. Simply reach out and we'll guide you through the process.

Get in touch

Call us on (03) 9796 1396 or send an enquiry online. You can also email us at enquiries@berwickcounselling.com.au. No referral is needed at this stage.

We'll match you with the right psychologist

We'll discuss your needs and match you with the most appropriate psychologist from our team based on your goals, availability, and any funding pathway you're using.

Arrange your referral (if applicable)

If you're accessing Medicare rebates, you'll need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP or psychiatrist before your first session. We can advise on this when you enquire.

Book your first appointment

We'll confirm a time that suits you — either in person at our Berwick rooms or via Telehealth. We'll send you any required paperwork in advance.

Attend your session

Arrive a few minutes early for your first appointment. Payment is processed on the day. If you have a Medicare card or private health card, bring it along.

Cancellation & Missed Appointment Policy

We understand that circumstances change. To respect our psychologists' time and to accommodate other clients, we ask that you give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule.

24–48 hours notice 50% of session fee may apply
Less than 24 hours notice Full session fee may apply
Non-attendance (no show) Full session fee applies
Extenuating circumstances Please contact us — we'll do our best to assist
